Capt. George T. ‘Noisy’ Wood. Martha was 95 years of age at the time of her
passing. Captain Wood, born September 16, 1911, passed on November 24,
1981.

on Sept.28th.
Skeeter was 95, wife of Delta pilot,
George "Noisy" Wood who was hired in 1939 and died in 1981. A service
of memory for Skeeter was
held Oct 6 at Hapeville Baptist
Church ,Hapeville, Ga.

WOOD, Martha Smalley Martha S. Wood, 95, peacefully went to be with her Lord on September 28, 2013. Mrs. Wood was born June 18, 1918 in Alma, Georgia to Lonnie M. Smalley and Sarah Thornton Smalley. When Martha was a small child the family moved to Waycross, Georgia where she attended school and graduated from Wacona High School in the class of 1936. After graduation Martha moved to Decatur, Georgia and worked for Southern Railway. In 1945 she met and married George T. "Noisy" Wood, a Delta pilot from 1939 to 1973. The couple resided in Hapeville, Georgia for fifty years where Martha was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hapeville. In 1981, George passed away and in 1996 Martha relocated to Fayetteville, GA. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George, her loving parents, Lonnie and Sarah Smalley, her only brother William T. (Billy) Smalley and his wife Mary Thompson Smalley, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, sister in laws and brother in laws whom she shared time and wonderful memories with. Martha will be remembered and missed by her many friends and neighbors in Hapeville and Fayetteville, her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her many cousins. Crosby Funeral Home provided a beautiful burial at Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma, Georgia. Donation in memory of Martha may be made to the First Baptist Church, 612 College, Hapeville, GA 30354-1716; Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291; or a charity of your choice .
