Notification with the passing of retired
Delta pilot Captain Robert Alan 'Bob' Hillegas, age 67. Captain Hillegas joined
Delta Air Lines 01-24-1977 and retired in 2005, based Atlanta. Obituary details
note that there will be a visitation Monday evening, February 16th at Northside
Chapel in Roswell GA. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17th at
11am, at the Chapel at Roswell United Methodist Church. To sign the online

Robert HILLEGAS Obituary...................
Robert Alan "Bob" Hillegas, age 67, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away on
Friday, February 13, 2015. Bob was born in Akron, Ohio on October 22, 1947 to
the late Russell and Zellah (Hensal) Hillegas. Bob graduated from Buchtel High
School in 1966, attended Miami of Ohio for 2 years and transferred to Kent State
where he graduated with an Aeronautic Degree in Aviation. He received his
Commission into the Air Force in 1971 and attended Flight School at Craig Air
Force Base in Selma, Alabama. He was stationed at Norton Air Force Base where he
flew the C141 and was involved in Operation Baby Lift, which involved evacuating
children orphaned by the Vietnam War, and the evacuation of Saigon prior to the
invasion of the North Vietnamese. Bob was hired by Delta Air Lines in 1977 and
retired in 2005 as an International Captain on the 777. He loved playing golf
and was a member of the North Fulton Master Gardner program. Bob is survived by
his wife of 42 years, Cathy (McMillan) Hillegas of Roswell, Georgia; his two
daughters and their husbands, Jeremy and Annie Hitt of Savannah, Georgia, and
Steven and Jessie Henry of Augusta, Georgia; and brothers Jon (Marge) Hillegas
of Phoenix, Arizona, Jim (Carol) Hillegas of Asheville, North Carolina, and Dick
(Ginny) Hillegas of East Aurora, New York. There will be a visitation on Monday,
February 16 from 4pm - 6pm at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road Roswell,
Georgia. The funeral will be on Tuesday, February 17 at 11am, at the Chapel at
Roswell United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made
to the Roswell United Methodist Church Foundation, 814 Mimosa Boulevard Roswell,
Georgia.
