Notification with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain
Charles Patrick Royes, age 77. Captain Royes joined Delta Air Lines 05-03-1965
and retired with Delta in 1995, based 030/DFW. He is survived by his wife
Alean, their children and grandchildren. Services were held
May 23rd in Arlington.

Charles Patrick Royes, "Chief," 77, passed away peacefully
Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at his home in Arlington. A celebration of life service
was held on Tuesday, May 23, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Arlington,
with Father Mike Ciski presiding. Charles was born Sept. 14, 1939, in New
Orleans, La., to Joseph and Clara Royes. He graduated from Warren Easton High
School and later served his country as a fighter pilot in the Louisiana Air
National Guard. On Jan. 20, 1966, he married Alean Martin of Silver City, N.M.
Charles was a dedicated airline pilot for Delta Airlines for 30 years. He
enjoyed flying and retired in 1995. He was an avid painter and enjoyed creating
art for loved ones. He loved reading, fishing, gardening and his beloved
hometown of New Orleans, La. He dearly enjoyed spending summers in Port
Townsend, Wash., with Alean. He adored his four grandchildren and cherished
every opportunity to spend time with them. He also treasured his faithful dog
and great friend, Fisher. He was a volunteer at Holy Rosary Catholic School and
helped children learn to read. Finally, he was an avid supporter of UTA and
often attended speaking programs as well as sporting events for all of its
teams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara Lotz Royes; and
brother, Alvin Royes. Memorials: For those wishing to honor Charles Royes, the
family requests donations be made to UT Southwestern Medical Center for Dr.

75391-0888. Survivors: Wife of 51 years, Alean; sons, Chuck and Scott Royes;
grandchildren, Kendall, Cameron, Bailee and Ella Royes; and his
daughters-in-law, Sheri and Venessa Royes, all of whom reside in Arlington and
Mansfield. He is also survived by his loving brothers, Richard and Albert of New
Orleans, La., John of Houston; his sister, Jeanie Doreck of Galveston; and many
nephews and nieces.
