Notification with the passing of retired Delta pilot Captain Clifford Ellerbee Waddell, age 87, of Hartwell, Georgia.  Captain Waddell joined Delta Air Lines 12-18-1961 and retired with Delta in 1994, based 030/ATL.

Obituary  : Clifford Ellerbee Waddell, 87, of Hartwell, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his home.

 

Born on January 18, 1934 in Emory, Ga., he was the son of the late James B. Waddell and Gladys Kathryn Morgan Waddell. Mr. Waddell attended Decatur

 

Boys High School and graduated from Presbyterian College in 1956. He flew fighters for the United States Navy. He also graduated from the Naval Justice School in Norfolk, Va. and was the squadron legal officer for VFAW 4 in Atlantic City New Jersey. Mr. Waddell flew for Delta Airlines for 33 years and served as Captain Check Pilot on the DC9, Boeing 727, 757 and 767.

 

He is survived by his nephew, Robert Chesnut of Santa Cruz, Calif., and his great-nephews Bianca and Cliff. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

 

He wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be announced in the near future.
