Full obituary : Leonard D. Dolny,
Age 94,
of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully on December 8th. Survived by wife of 69 years, Harriet,

Len was
drafted into the army right after graduating from Washburn High School. He switched to the Air Force where he learned
to fly and became a lieutenant colonel.
He started his commercial airline career with North Central Airlines
which became Republic and eventually Delta Airlines. He retired from the airlines in 1987, after
33 1/2 years of flying.
Len was
a Korean War veteran. When he came home in 1952, he married Harriet, who he met
on a blind date courtesy of his brother.
They would have celebrated 70 years of marriage next April. He and Harriet were always side by side; some
had nick named them "frick and frack." He kept his sense of humor saying: "people think we're cute holding hands
(with Harriet), but they don't know we're just holding each other up!"
Len was
always ready and willing to lend a hand where needed. In the neighborhood, when something broke, he
had a reputation of "call Lenny."
He was very committed to his family and church. He served as president of St.James and attended almost all of his grandsons'
baseball games, even when it snowed. He
received the honor of "most loyal fan" from Erik's team. He also loved playing golf, which he did
regularly into his late eighties, and traveling. He treated his family to many fun-filled
vacations. He will be remembered by his
family as a great husband, father, and grandfather, and by all who knew him as
a true gentleman.
