John George Ivbuls, age 67. Captain
Ivbuls joined Northwest Airlines 08-18-1989 and retired with Delta Air
Lines. He is survived by his wife Pam,
his daughter Holly, and his grandson Emmett.

Obituary : John George Ivbuls
John George Ivbuls was a first generation,
American-born Latvian son of Janis and Herta Ivbuls. He was born on November
19, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska. He went to Westside High School in Omaha, and
attended Iowa State University, receiving a degree in Architecture. John would
later join the United States Navy, where he trained in naval aviation. He flew
the T-2 Buckeye, the A-4, and the A-6 Intruder. He retired from the Navy after
20 years with the rank of Commander. His next calling was to become an airline
pilot. He got a job with Northwest Airlines, which later merged with Delta
Airlines. John retired from the airline industry after 30 years of service as a
Captain of the 737. During his career, he also flew the 727, DC9, A320, DCIO
and MD88. His total career miles flown with the airlines totals 9,228,725.
John married his wife, Pam in 1985, they had one
daughter, Holly.
John was a true “gearhead” and over his lifetime,
he enjoyed tinkering with around 30 different cars, trucks and motorcycles. He
will forever be known for his willingness to help others and the strength he
endured during his long battle with cancer. John’s love for Costco cakes,
LeMars donuts and Dairy Queen ice cream will never be forgotten.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Janis
and Herta Ivbuls; father-in-law, Brian Kennedy; brother-in-law, Jonas Deckys.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; daughter, Holly Rasmussen; son-in-law, Sean
Rasmussen; grandson, Emmett; sister, Edite Deckys; mother-in-law, Kathleen
Kennedy; sister-in-law, Bernadette Moore; brother-in-law, Mark Moore; many
other family members and friends.
VISITATION: Monday, August 8, 2022, from
5:00-7:00pm; SERVICE: Tuesday, August 9, 2022, 10:30am, all at West Center
Chapel. INTERMENT with Military Honors: Tuesday, 2:00pm, Omaha National
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Navy Marine Corp Relief
Society or Nebraska Humane Society.
