member retired Delta Air Lines pilot Captain James Weir McCord II, age 89. Captain McCord joined Delta Air Lines
11-11-1957. He is survived by his wife
Barbara, and by his children and his grand- and greatgrandchildren.

Obituary : James Weir McCord, 89, of
Peachtree City, Georgia
went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2023.
He was born on January 29, 1934, in New York City, New York to the late John
and Mary McCord.
Mr. McCord was an Air Force Korean War
Veteran as well as Captain and Line Check Airman for Delta Airlines for 37
years. He served the community as Councilman for the City of Hapeville, was
elected President of the Exchange Club, and delivered Meals on Wheels for over
22 years. Mr. McCord was a devout Catholic and spent his life devoted to the
Lord. He served as Stephen Minister, Eucharistic Minister and was a
Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is
preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister MaryLou and brother
Peter.
James
is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Barbara McCord, children James
McCord II and wife Robin of Sharpsburg GA Georgia, Mark
McCord and wife Angela of Plano TX, Greg McCord and husband James Pahn of
Panama City Beach FL, Susan McCord Dietz and husband Thomas of Charlotte NC,
Laurie McCord Ashley and husband Bart of Nashville TN, and Paul McCord of Ft.
Lauderdale FL, grandchildren Candice, Eric, Nicholas, Sara, Anna, Catherine,
Lane, Andrew, Molly, and James III, great-grandchildren Katie, Nathan, Evan,
Mason, Taylor, Nora, and Sloane as well as extended family and friends
The family will host a memorial service at
11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church,
Peachtree City. The family will host a reception after the service at the
church.
The
family requests donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society in lieu of
flowers.
