USAF veteran, DL Capt. Gerald “Jerry” Hollis Bauer

October 17, 1937 - April 19, 2023

 

Notice of passing…..retired Delta Air Lines pilot and Delta Golden Wings member Captain Gerald “Jerry” Hollis Bauer, age 85.  Jerry joined Delta Air Lines 01-06-1969 and was based 030/DFW.  He is survived by his wife Vera June, and by his children and their families.

Obituary :  Gerald Hollis Bauer

Gerald "Jerry" Hollis Bauer, 85, husband of Vera Bauer, died Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

Born in Virginia, he was the son of the late Fred and Lewellen Bellamy Bauer.

Born in West Virginia, life found him quickly in Louisiana where he was raised. Jerry proudly

graduated from LSU. He joined the U.S. Air Force after college in Shreveport, Louisiana and rose

to the rank of Captain of the B-52 bomber. He flew in the Chrome Dome Initiative during the

Cold War. He earned two master's degrees, in English and math. Jerry was a Captain for Delta

Airlines from 1969 for a career of 30 years until his retirement.

In addition to his wife of 32 years, he is survived by four children, Jessica Bauer; Eric Bauer;

Amanda Maura (Harry); and Dan Bauer (Angela);seven grandchildren; and thirteen greatgrandchildren.

I addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Gant and Lynn Thrower.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Texas.
