Borger Plehal
July 20, 1937 – April 14, 2023
Notice of passing…..retired Northwest Airlines
pilot and RNPA/Retired Northwest Pilots Association member Captain William “Bill”
Borger Plehal, age 85. After his time in
the military, Bill joined Northwest Airlines 08-07-1967. Widowed in April of 2015, Captain Plehal is survived by his children
and their families.

Obituary : William Borger Plehal
William Borger Plehal, 85, of Land O' Lakes,
Florida passed away from aggressive, onset Cancer, on Friday, April 14th, 2023,
surrounded by family. William was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1937. He
attended Hopkins High school where he was the hockey goalie and loved the
Minnesota North Stars. He then joined the United States Air Force. At age 19 he
attended a Church social for College Students in Rapid City, South Dakota, where
he met his wife, Chyree Fillingham. After Marriage, Bill & Chyree moved
several times through the country to various Air Force bases before settling in
Minneapolis and then Tampa.
Along the way, they created amazing memories and
developed lifelong treasured friends. William was in Strategic Air
Command; 95th bomb wing and flew C-130 and B-52
Aircrafts. He served 27 years in United
States Air Force and retired as Lt. Colonel. From there, William continued his
career by entering the Air Force Reserves and then was a Pilot for Northwest Airlines.
He worked as a Captain for Northwest Airlines for over 30 years. William was a
humble, generous man of few words, with tremendous work ethic and didn't take a
single sick day his entire career. He also was a Pilot Instructor in Simulators
and ROTC College Air Force Recruiter.
William is preceded in death by his Parents:
William and Annie Sophia Plehal; Sister: Lorna Plehal; Brother:
Ben Plehal; and his loving Wife of 55 years:
Chyree Plehal.
He is survived by his Children: Suzanne
Plehal-Northcutt, Michael Plehal, Julie Plehal, and Jill (Shane) Law;
Sister: Linda (Mike) Hedtke; Nephews: Lee and
Paul; Brother-in-law: Gary Fillingham; his Grandchildren:
Dustin (Paris), Caylie (Matt), Spencer, Emily
(Cameron), Eric (Nicey), Lindsay, Katie and Jett; and Great
Grandchildren: Aubrey Jo and Kacey Marlae.
William was an avid reader and loved to sail. He
loved traveling in an RV, the Minnesota Vikings and
Minnesota Golden Gophers. He was a member of
Knights of Columbus and recently a member of Holy
Trinity Lutheran Church in Lutz. He was a loving
Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. He
most certainly was a cherished, beloved family
man. He was the rock to his family who loved, looked up to,
and respected him greatly.
A true gentleman with integrity would be an
understatement. As Bill would say "It is an honor and privilege,"
to serve his family and country with all of his
heart.
A Gathering will be held at Loyless Funeral Home,
Land O' Lakes, Florida on Thursday, April 27th at 11 AM,
with a Celebration of Life Service at 12 PM.
William will be laid to rest with his Spouse:
Chyree at Florida National Cemetery where the family will be
holding a Private Service.

Obituary of Chyree Plehal
PLEHAL, Chyree Marlae, 78, of Winchester, TN,
previously of Tampa, FL, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015 from brain cancer.
She was born and raised in Rapid City, SD by her parents, John and Evelyn
Fillingham. Attended Cathedral High School, St. Theresa College and St. John
McNamara School of Nursing. She met her future husband, Bill Plehal, at age 19
at a church social for college students. They recently celebrated their 55th
wedding anniversary. Her husband became an Air Force and airline pilot, so they
lived in several locations, including Minnetonka, MN. Her survivors include her
husband, four children and eight grandchildren. Daughter, Suzanne L. Northcutt
of San Antonio, TX; Michael J. Plehal of Atlanta, GA, Julie J. Hernandez
(Edgar) of Kennesaw, GA, and Jill K. Law (Shane) of Odessa, FL. Also, sister
Darlene Wallace of New Baltimore, MI and brother, Gary Fillingham of
Winchester, TN. She was a precious, wonderful, loving wife, mom, grandmother
and friend. A great sense of humor and a quick smile, she was a family jewel………..
