VERNON TINES OBITUARY
Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch
Vernon Eugene Tines went to be with his Lord
and Savior on Friday evening after a month of hospitalization. He was born in
Madison Co., TN to the late Odis Linton Tines and Rosie Lewis Houston Tines.
The family moved to Nashville where he attended Central High School and stayed
until 1964, when he was transferred to Florida by National Bronze Co. where he
was a certified molder.
Vernon was preceded in death by his two
brothers, Albert Troy Tines and William Dennis Tines.
He is survived by two sons, Vernon (Butch)
Eugene Tines, Jr. (Janet) of Memphis, TN and Philip Alan Tines (Sharon) of
Lebanon, MO and daughter, Terri Lynn Tines of Fletcher, NC. Mr. Tines
"Pop" is survived by four grandchildren, Gina Nichole Tines, Lauren
Rene Tines, Eric Coleman Tines and Autumn Nicole Tines.
Captain Vernon Tines is a retired pilot with
Northwest Airlines. He began his airline flight career in the late 1960's with
Southern Airways, through mergers became Republic, then Northwest. This
employment brought him to Memphis. Much of his travels were riding on a
motorcycle with a group of close friends across the United States.
Vernon loved music. He played guitar, sang
and wrote songs as well. Most mornings, you could listen to him on Facebook. In
addition, he and Butch enjoyed brightening the spirits of residents at nursing
homes with their music and kindness.
Vernon spent the last thirty years living in
Byhalia, MS until last summer moving in with his son, Butch, Janet, Eric and
canine friend, Toby. He was happy in their home.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the
family on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon at Coleman
