___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. Contributor contact info is generally removed before posting (unless requested otherwise).

Charles Pickron Obituary

Charles Thad Pickron, age 94, of Cumming, GA went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 17, 2023. Mr. Pickron was born on February 25, 1929 to Thadie H. Pickron and Leila Dean Norton Pickron in Uriah, Alabama.

He graduated from Blacksher High School in Uriah, Alabama. After High School, he attended the University of Alabama and acquired an associate degree before joining the Air Force. He spent 3 years and 5 months in the service and spent time in both Guam and the Philippines before returning to the States to begin his journey toward his dream job. He worked odd jobs to put himself through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical. He was very mechanically inclined and along his journey was able to swap his mechanical skills with airplanes for extra hours in the cockpit.  In 1955, his dream of becoming a commercial pilot came true when he was hired by Delta Airlines. He flew all over the world with Delta for the next 34 years. He never considered it a job.

In 1959 he married his love, Peggy Lou Pearman. They shared 64 wonderful years together and raised 3 children, Cindy, David, and Robert. His family was his life. He never wanted to be away for long. He was the smartest, kindest, most generous, and Godly man, one could know, who left a huge impact on his family and will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy, daughter Cindy Kunis (David), son Robert (Janice), daughter-in-law Dana Pickron, grandchildren Abby Kunis, Brooke Kunis, Olivia Pickron, great-grandchildren Georgia Moore and Brooks Brennan, 12 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by his parents Thadie H. Pickron and Leila Dean Norton Pickron, son David Charles Pickron and sisters Betty Mason, Dorothy Hubert, and Doris Hayles.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Friday, November 24, 2023 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave., Cumming, GA 30040 in charge of arrangements.
