Anne Jones, of Forsyth County, Georgia, was born
in Liverpool, England, on April 18, 1938 to Samuel and Anne Anchor. After
eighteen months of battling advanced Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus, Anne passed
peacefully at her home in Forsyth County on June 26, 2024 with her loving
husband and daughter at her bedside.
In her teens Anne left Liverpool for the Republic
of Panama to help her brother, Sam, care for his young son after the sudden
death of his mother. Anne fell in love with Panama so continued to live and
work there after her brother married again. In February, 1963, Anne took a
chance on a blind date arranged by a friend and they met a young USAF officer.
It was the perfect “love at first sight” story. After a whirlwind courtship the
young officer proposed on their third night of dating. Her wedding to 1st Lt.
Wilton Ray Jones then occurred on May 18, 1963. This resulted in their marriage
of just over 61 years.
She followed her husband to duty stations in
Tennessee, then Virginia, where their daughter, Deborah (Debbie) was born. From
Virginia they were sent to Clark AB in the Philippines for two years. Their son
Anthony (Tony) was born there at Clark AB. From the Philippines her husband
left the Air Force and came to Atlanta to fly for Delta Air Lines for 29 ½
years.
Through those years Anne honed her talents in
needlepoint, crochet, silk flower making and finally settled on painting. She
produced many works of art and her pieces are hanging in many homes in England,
Canada, Republic of Panama and in many states in the United States. She was
especially adept at painting birds.
The wonderful caregivers, Kristy, Lori and Kim,
who cared for her twenty-four hours a day loved her and cared her as they would
their own grandmother. She in turn loved them and greeted each one with a big
smile when they came on duty.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, four
brothers, Jimmy Anchor (Joan), Sam Anchor (Norma), Frank Anchor, Alfie Anchor
and her sister, Margaret Jenkins.
Anne is survived by her loving husband, Wilton Ray
Jones, her daughter Deborah Anne Moon (Eric), her son, Anthony Raymond Jones
(Marla), and brother Edward Anchor (Solange). She is also survived by her
Grandchildren Jessica Moon and Eric Nicholas Moon (Mallorie). Anne was the very
proud great-grandmother of 3: Rylan, Miley, and Collins (Coco). Other survivors
are sisters-in law, Barbara and Betty, brother-in law, Dave and many nieces and
nephews.
Anne was a loving, warm hearted, kind,
compassionate and talented, fun loving lady. Everyone who knew her loved her
and she will be greatly missed by all.
