___ PCN FLIGHT WEST is sponsored by the Pilot Communication Network and is a service of the PCN provided for the Delta Pilot Retired family of pilot groups. Flight West was started and is maintained to accomplish two main goals. After we become aware of a colleague who has Flown West, 1. We aim to produce a “timely” notice sent to our community that allows for support and interaction from our group toward the grieving family of our friend and colleague. 2. Then, we aim to “archive” that notice on our Flown West Blogspot as a lasting accessible place of Dignity and Honor of our colleague for family legacy and posterity. SO/NWA Capt. Robert T. Glover

~ IN MEMORY ~

Military veteran, SO/NWA Capt. Robert T. Glover

July 29, 1936 - December 26, 2024

From friends & colleagues:  obituary for Robert T. Glover of Orange Park FL

Robert T. Glover quietly passed away at his home December 26, 2024, after a long, varied and satisfying life. Robert joined the marines on his 17th birthday and served honorably. After the marines, he spent a few years as an electrician and an aircraft mechanic prior to getting his commercial pilot rating. He was a corporate co-pilot for Winn Dixie and Atlantic Coastline Railroad before joining Southern Airways where he distinguished himself with his excellent pilot skills and his quick sense of humor. He remained a pilot with Southern through a series of mergers before retiring as Captain from Northwest airline.

After retiring, he enjoyed his ranch in Lee, FL, working with his cows and flying his plane. In 1992, he got involved in Madison, FL politics leading the “Save Our Counties” organization, which successfully stopped a hazardous waste facility from being built in the county. Robert ran for State Senate district 4 in 1994, nearly upsetting the incumbent. He really enjoyed travelling around Florida and speaking his heart to fellow Floridians.

In his later years, Robert moved back to the Jacksonville area and filled his time with fishing, golfing and gardening.

Robert was preceded by his brother, Houston Glover, and by his son, Robert T. Glover, Jr.

Survivors include his siblings, Mary Reese, Angela Boettcher, Helen Keene, Richard Glover, Henry Glover, and Dewayne Glover; his children, LaTreva Pounds, Travis Glover, and Billy Glover. As well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A wake will be held on his behalf January 19, 2025, from 3pm to 6pm at

2778 Holly Point Rd. West, Orange Park, FL

Come by, raise a glass and reminisce.
